Health Heroes is being piloted in Swaffham Prior Church of England Primary School, Swaffham Bulbeck Church of England Primary School, and Guyhirn Church of England Primary School as part of The Active Schools Incentives Programme. This initiative supports schools in introducing new health and well-being activities that promote active lifestyles and enhance student well-being.
Coordinated by Living Sport on behalf of the Cambridgeshire County Council Public Health Team, The Active Schools Incentives Programme offers £500 in funding to schools that commit to implementing two new initiatives during the 2023–2024 academic year that they are not currently offering.
The inclusion of Health Heroes in this programme highlights how it can help foster key daily habits among students, including:
Eating more fruit and vegetables
Getting enough sleep
Staying active
Engaging their minds
Helping others
By integrating Health Heroes into their curriculum, these three schools are taking proactive steps to equip students with lifelong healthy habits. The programme’s endorsement within The Active Schools Incentives Programme reinforces its value as a flexible, engaging, and impactful health education initiative.
We look forward to seeing more schools take advantage of this opportunity, fostering lifelong healthy habits for their students while benefiting from additional support through the funding program.
